WILD & FREE

WOMEN II
2024

The ‘Wild and Free’ collection is a powerful celebration of the natural beauty and cultural significance of Black hair. It delves into themes of resistance, identity, and self-expression, reflecting on the complex dynamics between conformity and rebellion. Each artwork serves as a profound statement on personal and cultural identity, using hair as an intentional social statement.

A special thank you to my collaborator and Muse Joy Burton whose commitment to this project was invaluable and her talented hair artists Marie M’bengue from Dakar Senegal, West Africa and Karissa Francis from Long Beach, California USA.
